London is a popular city with tourists, but it’s also one which can be expensive. However, with a little preparation you can plan a trip to England’s capital, without it costing you a fortune.
Firstly, you will want to think carefully about the place in which you choose to stay. London had an abundance for first-class hotels, which can be wonderfully luxurious, but also very expensive. If you’re keen to get out and see the city, then the chances are that you won’t actually end up spending that much time in your accommodation, and so you may be better off choosing something a little more basic.
For a reasonable price, you should be able to find somewhere which offers all the basic facilities you need. If you decide you want to access to a pool to go swimming, or want to log on to the internet to play games such as online poker, then it can be less costly to pay extra at a later date. This can be a more sensible option than paying out for facilities in the cost of your accommodation, which you then don’t use.
One of the areas where it is easiest to spend money in London is on travel. It can be well worth paying out for an Oyster card, or a travelcard, depending on the length of your stay. This will give you access to the London transport system, although you will still want to take a look at a tube map, and plan your routes carefully. You will also want to think carefully about where you eat in London.
Again, there is a huge range of options to choose from, but those located in tourist hotspots can be overpriced. Instead, try to find smaller restaurants in less popular areas for some delicious food at a more reasonable price.
